Statement of Philosophy/Policy/General Aims/Vision of Scoil Áine

School Philosophy

Scoil Áine sees the purpose of education as helping each child to realise her own full potential and preparing her for her role as a member of society.   Our school undertakes to relish and uniqueness and importance of every human being and the potential for growth and development that exists within each person.  It accepts that there is diversity among people and aims to accept and respect that diversity within its general ethos.  It recognises the importance of developing a positive balanced self-confidence in each individual.

Scoil Áine strives to provide opportunities for social participation.  It sees itself as a school which is a focal unit of the school community and keenly aware of the educational, social and moral expectations of that community.  We acknowledge that parents are the primary educators of their children and that the school’s role is both supportive of, and complementary to, their work.

Religion

Our school being Catholic is centred in Christ.  Within the school community we share our search for the truth about God, the world and ourselves.  As part of the local Church we co-operate with parents in the instruction of their children and in the promotion of Christian values.

The pupils’ knowledge and religious experiences are deepened through participation in religious education classes and liturgies.
