February News

Credit Union Quiz

Our 6th class girls represented the school  at the Credit Union Quiz held on Tuesday, 10th February, in Craobh Chiarán Club. In the weeks leading up to the event, they showed fantastic commitment, working hard together, revising topics, and encouraging one another. Their teamwork and positive attitude was super to see. Well done girls! (and a big thank you to our TY students for the support with the preparation)

Primary School Indoor Relays

On Thursday 12th Feb, two 5th class teams and one 4th class team travelled to Abbotstown National Indoor Arena for Primary Schools Indoor relays.,the event was kindly organised by Dublin City Council sports and wellbeing partnership. Over 750 children were there and every team got two chances to run on the track .

We came through our heats to the finals and our 5th class B team got a bronze medal. Our other two teams were leading their finals all the way, but unfortunately did not place. We are so proud of you all cailini! A great day out. Thank you to all the parents who came along.

Biodiversity and Food

Green Schools Action Day

We will celebrated our Biodiversity and Food Green Schools Action Day on the 26th February. Each class celebrated with having a picnic in the hall. There was a stall showing everyone what each class grew, a stall for everyone to make a pledge for our “Pledgehog” and another stall for each class to learn about the mystery seed packet that everyone received at the end of the day.

Classes also had the opportunity to take part in a trail around the school.

2nd & 3rd classes took part in a scavenger hunt, looking for different insects, birds, animals and plants.

4th class took part in a “Birds of Ireland” trail.

5th & 6th classes took part in a QR quiz trail all about Biodiversity and Food.

Everyone had great fun on the day!"

Here are some of the classroom displays of work that each class has completed over the last few months and a few pictures of our picnic.

Here is our “Pledgehog”.

On our Action Day each child made a pledge to the environment about biodiversity and food.

Have a look at the fantastic work Sophie, Sadhbh, Hayley and Cara did with Ms Smith on creating posters for the 4th Class “Birds of Ireland” trail. These posters were stuck up around the school and students will have the opportunity to scan the QR codes to listen to the birds and watch videos of them too!
